10 Shocking Ingredients In Your Food

What You NEED To Know Before Your Next Grocery Store Trip: 10 Shocking Ingredients In Your Food

Eating healthy is always a top priority, but did you know that there are lots of hidden ingredients in your favourite foods? The food industry has come under scrutiny for its use of chemicals, additives and unhealthy preservatives. To help shoppers make informed decisions, we’ve compiled a list of 10 shocking ingredients commonly found in grocery.

Your main source of nutrition and good health is food. It matters what you put on your body. Healthy eating seems like it should be so easy, but there is so much misinformation coming from the food industry that it is difficult to know what is healthy and what isn’t.

The aisle of your neighbourhood grocery store is lined with countless subtle marketing gimmicks. Food manufacturers deliberately work to deceive you into believing that their products are healthier than they actually are in order to get you to buy their goods.

Products with strong claims like “Organic,” “No Trans Fats,” “All Natural,” “Gluten Free,” “Fat Free,” and several other ostensibly healthful phrases can be seen. Consumers frequently are unaware that the food they are purchasing is bad for their health. We are led to believe that something is healthy because it is organic. Sadly, that does not always happen.

The Food Industry DOESN’T CARE ABOUT YOU!

You should realise this as soon as possible. Your health is not a concern of the food industry. They are motivated by financial gain. Businesses may alter their marketing strategies to accommodate customer preferences and trends, but they may not make significant changes to the way food is produced and processed. Additionally, they will make an effort to keep the unhealthy elements from you.

Even worse, the FDA permits this. They also permit a large number of food additives that are known to seriously harm people’s health. Would you like to learn something else absurd? Additionally, the FDA does not mandate the listing of chemical pollutants (such as rocket fuel).

WHAT???

There are so many dangerous food additives whose names deceive consumers who lack knowledge. Knowing this, the grocery store transforms from a place to get food and health to a landmine. You have no idea what you are feeding your family or putting into your body. It is understandable why this nation has so many serious health issues.

You must exercise caution even if you buy in the organic, natural, or whole foods section of your neighbourhood supermarket. There are indeed many healthier options there, but these sections also contain a lot of items that have undergone extensive processing and are not as nutritious as you may believe. You must be extremely cautious while buying ANY packaged meals. Examine your labels thoroughly.

Here are 10 ingredients to avoid at all costs:

1.Sodium Nitrate

A preservation ingredient, sodium nitrate is utilised in food products. Bacon, hot dogs, deli meats, and other processed meats contain it. Studies have connected sodium nitrate to gastrointestinal issues, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and other diseases. If you consume meat, minimise or avoid meats containing sodium nitrate. Instead, opt for fresh, lean meats.

2. Azodicarbonamide

This industrial chemical is used to create synthetic leather and rubber. Somewhere along the line, someone decided it would be a good idea to add it to bread to make it spongy because it makes things frothy! Cereal flour can also be made whiter with it. The FDA asserts that there is not enough data to determine if consumption of this chemical in food causes harm, although it is prohibited in Europe and Australia. The World Health Organisation and the CDC warn against ingesting and include respiratory problems, skin and eye irritation, and other side effects. Other sources link consuming this substance to impaired immune system and hormone function.

3. High fructose corn syrup

In spite of the corn industry’s vigorous advertising to the contrary, high fructose corn syrup is a highly processed product and NOT a natural food. Additionally, it is not digested by the body in the same way as natural sugar and is not equivalent to it. It poses several health problems due to it and the significant amounts of high fructose corn syrup disguised in our diet. Obesity, type II diabetes, high blood pressure, liver disease, and heart disease have all been related to high fructose corn syrup. Since many food producers now include it as fructose or fructose syrup, they do so because they are aware that consumers look for it on ingredient labels. The harmful component is still present in significant amounts, with just a misleading new label.

4. BHT (butyl hydroxytoluene) (butyl hydroxytoluene)

A synthetic substance called butyl hydroxytoluene (BHT) is utilised as a preservative in food and cosmetics. Foods and cosmetics don’t spoil because of the natural oxidation process being slowed down. It’s interesting that this chemical is clearly identified as dangerous on the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for it. But we eat it every day! Animal studies have connected BHT to cancer. They claim that low doses of BHT are OK but high amounts are not; however, since BHT is present in many food products, how can you distinguish whether doses are high or low? Does the impact build up over time?

5. Enhanced flour

In essence, enriched flour is flour that has had all of its fibre and nutrients chemically and physically removed; a small portion of those nutrients has then been artificially added. You are left with a product that has almost no nutritional value at all. Foods manufactured with enhanced flour are not processed by your body in the same way as other foods because of their highly processed and depleted form. They instantly convert to sugar, spiking blood sugar and insulin levels. Numerous health hazards result from this, including a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes, blood vessel damage, high blood pressure, and several malignancies. Although you may be used to the flavour and texture of white breads and flours, do your health a favour and switch.

6. Soybean oil

The soybean has a reputation for being a healthful food and is frequently used in place of animal protein. Unfortunately, several health issues have also been connected to soybeans and soybean oil. One significant issue is that the bean is frequently mass produced using a lot of cancer-causing chemicals. Inflammation, digestive problems, allergies, and vitamin and protein malabsorption are all associated with soy and soybean oil. The oil is partially hydrogenated, making it a trans-fat, which as you are aware, carries a number of concerns for your health. Make sure to purchase organic, non-GMO soy if you decide to consume it.

8. Yellow #5 (tartrazine)

To give food a yellow tint, yellow #5 is a food additive that is used in many foods. This additive has been connected in studies to several health issues. These comprise cancer risks, hyperactivity, reduced sperm count, and allergic reactions. Be mindful of this and other food colouring chemicals, as many of them have been associated with negative health effects.

9. Propylene glycol alginate

In addition to being a ubiquitous food additive, propylene glycol is also the main component of antifreeze. Studies on this food ingredient have yielded conflicting results about health effects. Risks connected to neurological conditions, liver, renal, and respiratory and cardiovascular diseases have been shown in some research. There is no clear evidence because of the conflicting studies, but is it really worth the danger while the researchers try to find it out?

10. Polysorbate 60

Polysorbate 60 is commonly used as a thickener in foods and cosmetics. While there is not a lot of information available on this chemical compound, its ingredients are linked to carcinogens and fertility issues.

The #3 Simplest Way To Avoid These Dangerous Ingredients is to:

The frightening part is that the aforementioned list is only a small sample of the countless hazardous chemicals and compounds that can be discovered in packaged goods. Avoiding these dangerous substances and being aware of what you are putting into your (and your family’s) body is the only way to become really healthy.

Focusing on whole foods is among the most efficient methods to stay away from these items. If you are an omnivore, buy unprocessed meats and seafood as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. Another fantastic method to start eating lots of healthy, full fruits and veggies without worrying about the flavour is to incorporate green smoothies into your diet. In addition, the minerals in green smoothies can aid in undoing any harm that these covert compounds may have already done. Smoothies are quick, simple, affordable, and portable to create. They are a terrific way to eat healthily both at home and when travelling.

1. Read the label carefully – Be sure to carefully read labels and keep an eye out for components that might raise a red signal, such as preservatives, trans fats, polysorbate 60, monosodium glutamate, and trans fatty acids.

2. Select organic or natural foods – Try to limit your intake of processed foods and choose organic or natural substitutes instead.

3. Use homemade goods – Create your own personal care and cleaning items from organic substances like baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice, essential oils, and coconut oil.

Anyone can assist towards their family’s health by following these easy measures. We can improve our personal health and the environment by being mindful of the food we eat.
